Student receives $3K scholarship

Alan Higaki of Mountain View, a senior at St. Joseph High School in Hilo, has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship from the Rebecca Marie Forbes Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship was established in 2011 by Anita Cunningham and Tom Forbes in memory of their daughter, a 2005 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Rebecca Marie Forbes passed away July 9, 2009.

“We wanted to support the school because we feel the education our daughter received at St. Joseph High School is a very valuable one,” Anita Cunningham said.

The scholarship is used toward paying tuition at St. Joseph High School.
