Teachers plan inclusive play date

The East Hawaii Special Education preschool teachers will hold the third annual Inclusion Play date for 3- to 5-year-old children. This year’s theme is rain, based on the book titled “Rain” by Manya Stojic. The event will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, at Chiefess Kapiolani Elementary School.

The inclusion play date provides students with the opportunity to participate in an exploratory, play-filled learning environment with peers. The activities address the domains, standards and benchmarks in the Hawaii Early Learning and Development Standards and targets educational goals and students’ needs.

The organization is seeking volunteers and supply donations to help make the event a success. Items needed are: bottled water (8-ounce preferred), beach mats, packing tape, pop-up tents, tree stumps, safety cones, quart-sized Ziploc bags, animal crackers (individually packaged preferred), caution tape, tempra paints, spray bottles, child-safe sand or dirt, sidewalk chalk, hand sanitizer, water hose, sprinkler, prizes for goodie bags and a cooler.
