Veterans to be honored at Waikiki
Hundreds of relatives and friends of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team will converge on Waikiki to honor the bravery of the Nisei (second-generation Japanese-American) soldiers from today through Sunday, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the formation of the legendary combat unit.
“Facing seemingly insurmountable odds, the 442nd RCT and their brothers from the 100th Infantry Battalion and the Military Intelligence Service, set the standard for battlefield courage and wrote an important chapter in the nation’s march toward equality and justice for all,” said spokesman Karlton Tomomitsu.
