The Waimea Wranglers Rough Rollers women’s roller derby team invites the public to its first home bout dubbed the “Shamrock Showdown.”
The game between the Waimea Wranglers and Kona’s Echo City Knockouts is set for Saturday, March 16 — the day before St. Patrick’s Day — at the Honokaa Complex Gym. Domino’s pizza, snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the bout starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $1 for children age 10 and under. Purchase tickets at the Waimea Domino’s Pizza, the Coaches Corner in Honokaa, Without Boundaries in Waimea, or from any Waimea Wrangler derby team member.
“If you’ve never seen a roller derby bout before; now’s your chance to come and watch one,” said spokeswoman Bambi Lau. “Cheer on the Waimea Wranglers and learn more about the sport that’s taking the nation by storm.”
