Walk to End Alzheimer’s Oct. 6

The Hilo branch of the Alzheimer’s Association is looking for community support at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Mooheau Park Bandstand in downtown Hilo.

“Providing services in our rural community can be expensive. Caregivers dealing with dementia reside all over the island and appreciate a home visit from the Alzheimer’s Association staff as well as support groups and educational presentations year-round,” said Chris Ridley, of the association.

Community members can support this cause and service by donating directly to the Alzheimer’s Association by mailing contributions to 1055 Kinoole St. No. 103, Hilo, HI 96720.

Anyone can register a team for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at www.alz.org. The Alzheimer’s Association invites everyone to come and walk in memory of those who have lost their memory.

Registration will be from 8 to 9 a.m. The actual walk will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with a choice of a leisure walk around downtown or an invigorating walk to Liliuokalani Park. Awards will be held at 10 a.m.
