Lane reopens after boulder removed

Hawaii County Police closed one lane of Hawaii Belt Road due to a minor rock slide shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday at Maulua Gulch. The lane was expected to be closed for up to two hours, according to a Police Department media release regarding expected traffic delays at 4:02 p.m.

Eight minutes later, police issued a new release advising motorists that a boulder had been removed from the roadway and that both lanes had been reopened to traffic.
