An early Sunday morning fire destroyed a single-room addition to the back of a Hawaiian Beaches home.
According to a written Fire Department release, seven units responded to the 3:33 a.m. alarm. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:47 a.m.to find the addition at 15-2712 Nenue St. fully engulfed in flames. The fire was reported under control at 3:50 a.m. and extinguished at 3:55 a.m.
Fire officials estimate the loss at $12,500 and property saved at $38,000. There were no reported injuries.
Neighbors reportedly told firefighters they didn’t know who owns the home. County tax records list the owners as Joachim and Amy Schneider of Ormond Beach, Fla.
