Boat washed ashore

A boat is blown up the rocky shore in Reeds Bay after high winds hit Hilo on Saturday. Strong winds and big waves forced the Department of Land and Natural resources to close three beaches on the Big Island — Hapuna, Kahaluu and Laaloa — on Saturday and high surf and wind warnings remained in place for west-facing shores until this morning. The National Weather Service also issued a high wind warning for the summits and upper elevations of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa through Saturday.
