Customer service representative wins award


The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research has announced that Christine Gumbs of Hilo is the 2013 Outstanding Customer Service Representative of the Year recipient for the state of Hawaii.

To qualify for this top state honor, Gumbs submitted the winning essay on the topic, “Communication is one of the most important parts of building strong relationships with your clients, companies and coworkers.” Additionally, Gumbs was selected for having demonstrated outstanding service and professionalism within the insurance industry.

Gumbs began her insurance career as a customer service representative in 2007. She joined Royal State Insurance, in its Hilo office, in 2012. She is licensed in Accident, Life and Health, and Property and Casualty Insurance. She graduated from De Anza College in Cupertino, Calif., with an associate of arts degree in liberal arts and a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a bachelor’s degree in communications.
