Downed tree causes power outage

Hawaii Electric Light Co. said that almost 13,500 customers lost power Friday at 11:20 a.m. when a tree fell on transmission lines near the 27-mile marker of Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19).

Power was restored to about 12,200 customers within six minutes. The remainder had its power restored by 1:53 p.m., the utility said.
