Hunting permits for forest reserve
The Department of Land and Natural Resources is issuing permits for control of feral goats in the makai portion — and feral goat and feral sheep in the mauka portion — of the Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve. This program will be conducted on weekends, starting Sept. 28 and ending Oct. 20.
For permit assignments, call the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife in Waimea at (808) 887-6063. Permits will be assigned from 8 a.m. until slots are filled on Sept. 25 for only one day of the first weekend of the program for either Makai or Mauka Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a. A valid hunting license is required to apply for a permit.
