Input sought on two judges
The state Judicial Selection Commission is accepting written comments and evaluation forms until Feb. 28 on the requests for retention for the Honorable Harry P. Freitas as District Court Judge, Third Circuit, and the Honorable Lloyd X. Van De Car as District Family Court Judge, Third Circuit.
The current term for both judges expires on May 31. Both have requested an appointment to an additional term of six years.
The Commission invites interested persons to submit written comments or fill out an evaluation form on whether Judge Freitas and Judge Van De Car should be retained in office for a new term. All written comments and evaluation forms will be kept confidential.
Visit the Commission’s website at http://www.courts.state.hi.us/courts/judicial_selection_commission.html and fill out form JS-P-081, the Judicial Evaluation Retention Form. Written comments and/or form JS-P-081 must be postmarked or faxed by Thursday, Feb. 28 to: Commission Chair Susan M. Ichinose, Judicial Selection Commission State of Hawaii, 417 S.
