Kahilu Theatre taps Michael Feinstein for Dec. 6 benefit

Kahilu Theatre has tapped entertainer Michael Feinstein as the headliner for the inaugural Masquerade on Dec. 6 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.

“We are beyond thrilled: Michael Feinstein is coming to the Big Island!” said Jane Sibbett, co-chair of the Masquerade. “The Kahilu Theatre is a not-for-profit community arts and education center dedicated to serving our diverse Hawai’i Island community and Michael Feinstein has dedicated his career to preserving the arts. We couldn’t be happier!”

The Masquerade, a benefit for the Kahilu Theatre’s artistic and educational programs, will be held at the resort’s Grand Ballroom and is themed around “Gatsby Glam.” Cocktails and a silent auction will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Feinstein is set to perform following dinner and a DJ-spun dance will run from approximately 9 p.m. until midnight.

Dr. John Stover, co-chair of the event commented, “Mr. Feinstein has played all over the world, from Carnegie Hall to the White House and Buckingham Palace. We are honored he is coming to support the Kahilu Theatre.” Feinstein is renowned for his commitment celebrating America’s popular song and preserving its legacy for the next generation. He serves on the Library of Congress’ National Recording Preservation Board, an organization dedicated to ensuring the survival, conservation and increased public availability of America’s sound recording heritage.
