Man indicted in sex assault
A Kona grand jury has indicted a 32-year-old Ocean View man for allegedly molesting an underage girl.
The indictment dated March 11 charges Andrew Rodriguez with first-degree sexual assault and attempted first-degree sexual assault of the girl, identified only by her initials, born in 1998. The document alleges the acts occured between July 1, 2007, and June 30, 2008.
A bench warrant issued after the indictment set Rodriguez’s bail at $10,000 and orders him not to contact the girl or her family.
A search of court records turned up one conviction for Rodriguez, who is not listed in the state’s sex offender registry.
Both charges are Class A felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
