Purse snatching reported downtown
Police are seeking a suspect in a reported purse snatching in downtown Hilo.
On Wednesday at about 12:50 p.m., officers responded to the lower Haili Street area after receiving a report from a 64-year-old Keaau woman that as she and a 59-year-old Keaau woman were walking along Haili Street, a man apparently approached them from behind and snatched her purse before fleeing in an alley by the Palace Theater.
The suspect was described as a local man in his late 20s, last seen wearing a white tank-top undershirt, brown shorts and a pair of slippers.
Neither woman was injured.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the robbery is asked to contact Detective Grant Todd at 961-2385 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
