Roadwork slated for West Kawailani Street
Road resurfacing will begin on West Kawailani Street from Kanoelani Street to the Ainaola Drive and Pohakulani Street intersection from Wednesday to Friday, weather permitting.
Special off-duty police officers will direct traffic from 8:30-3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays due to alternating one-lane closures and anticipate longer delays of 10 minutes or more on South Iwalani Street.
All lanes on West Kawailani will remain open to motorists from 3:30 p.m.-8:30 a.m.
Hawaiian Telcom and the Department of Public Works have relocated utilities in preparation of future work from Kanoelani to Kuhilani Street, and portions of Ainaola. This $1 million project began in 2012 and is partly funded by the Federal Highway Administration, utility companies, and the County of Hawaii.
