Search continues for missing swimmer
Rescuers continued their search Wednesday for a Honokaa man who went missing while swimming in Waipio Valley earlier this week.
Kevin Devlin, also known as Shawn Devlin, was last seen Monday evening when he reportedly was going for a swim.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Hawaii County Fire Department searched for the 62-year-old man by helicopter and with divers.
The Coast Guard has also provided a helicopter to aid in the search.
East Hawaii Battalion Chief Michael Hayashida with the Fire Department said Wednesday afternoon that rescuers will continue their efforts today if needed.
“We will figure out an action plan when they (rescuers) get back tonight,” he said.
It was unclear if Devlin went swimming in the Waipio River or in the ocean.
He is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with short, thin white hair.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call the Hawaii County Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
