Two arrested for public lewdness

A 30-year-old Maui man and a 22-year-old Kona woman have been charged with allegedly committing a lewd act on the grounds of a private school in Kona.

Ernie Primo of Wailuku and Sarah Levi of Kailua-Kona were arrested late Saturday afternoon at the Hualalai Academy ball field in Kealakehe. Both were charged with open lewdness and released on their own recognizance. Both are scheduled to make their initial appearance on the charge on Dec. 27 at Kona District Court.

Asked what allegedly occurred, a police spokeswoman said only that Primo and Levi, who used the name “Serah Lipai” during booking were “engaged in a lewd act.”

It’s the fourth time in as many months that a couple has been arrested and charged with publicly committing an act of a sexual nature.

On Oct. 7, 36-year-old Jassen Kahoohuli Bento and 35-year-old Jeanette Trumper were caught allegedly having sex fronting a homeless shelter and mental health clinic in the old Kona Industrial Area.

The other two cases involve an alleged serial public lothario, 35-year-old Dylan Trask Whelden.

On July 16, Whelden and 33-year-old Margaret Manza of Kailua-Kona were allegedly engaged in sidewalk sex fronting a Kaiwi Street business building in the old Kona Industrial Area when they were arrested.

Then on Aug. 18, Whelden and 45-year-old Yvette R. Butterfield were arrested in the early afternoon while allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse on the Bayfront soccer field extension on Kamehameha Avenue near Ponahawai Street near downtown Hilo.

Open lewdness is a petty misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
