Hayley Ford of Akamai Adventure Tours and Travel explains how the Thurston Lava Tube was made to Manuel Hernandez of California and his son Dakota, 12, and daughter, Jenna, 10, at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Tuesday afternoon. The Hernandez family was taking one more vacation before the keiki go back to school in August. They visited Hawaii via the Norwegian Cruise Line. HVNP officials reopened areas of the park that had been closed on Monday due to the arrival of Tropical Storm Flossie.
