Water shut-off planned

Water will be temporarily turned off Wednesday night to customers between Lindsey Road and the Carter Business Center on Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea, according to the Department of Water Supply.

Water will not be available between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday in order to establish a waterline connection for the Greenwood Center, according to the department.

Affected customers are asked to take any and all precautions necessary to protect their property and facilities, according to the department. That includes, but is not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices that normal operation depends on water pressure and/or water supply, and which might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shut-off.

When water service resumes, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time customers may notice turbid and/or discolored water, according to the department. Customers may also notice trapped air in their plumbing, which will be released as you initially use water.
