A 60-year-old kayaker was pulled from the water after reportedly being flipped out of his 20-foot kayak by a whale on Tuesday off Kanaloa at Kona Resort. A County Fire Department media relase said rescue crew spotted the unidentified kayaker about 100 years offsore signaling for help with a paddle. A Capt. Zodiac tour boat approached and helped him aboard. The victim then transferred to a private vessel and returned to shore. Witnesses on shore reportedly saw a humback whale flip the kayak over, the release said. The victim did not require medical assistance, suffering only a superficial scratch to the arm from the sharp edges of the broken kayak.
