Witnesses sought in fatal Kona crash

Police are looking for witnesses to a fatal car-motorcycle crash on July 13 on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in the area of the 17-mile marker in North Kona.

Randall C. Guadiz, 41, of Waikoloa died two days after the crash.

Officers responding to a 10:38 p.m. call on July 13, determined that Guadiz was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle north when he overtook a vehicle in a no-passing zone and sideswiped a southbound 2012 Toyota four-door sedan.

The driver of the Toyota, a 45-year-old California woman, was not injured.

Police ask that anyone who witnessed the crash or was at the scene call Sgt. Christopher Gali at 961-2332. Those who prefer anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
