Airline employee suspected of importing drugs
HONOLULU (AP) — An American Airlines employee accused of using his airline credentials to bypass airport security and bring methamphetamine to Hawaii is facing a drug charge.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (http://is.gd/F1dJN8) says FBI agents and Honolulu police officers arrested Tulituafulu Tuli Maata on Wednesday after he arrived in Honolulu from Los Angeles allegedly carrying more than three pounds of methamphetamine.
The FBI says Maata is an aircraft fueler and that he used his airline security access credentials to bypass security checks at Los Angeles Airport. He is accused of transporting 5 to 10 pounds of methamphetamine to Honolulu monthly. He appeared Thursday in federal court in Honolulu on a drug possession with intent to distribute charge.
