Delaware provost to lead Hawaii’s flagship campus

HONOLULU (AP) — University of Delaware provost Tom Apple will lead the University of Hawaii’s flagship Manoa campus.

The university said in a news release the Board of Regents approved Apple’s appointment at a meeting Thursday.

Apple has served as Delaware’s dean and provost since 2005. He earned his doctorate in physical chemistry at the University of Delaware in 1982.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (http://goo.gl/eRmZe) reports Apple will be paid nearly $440,000 a year.

Outgoing Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw earned nearly $345,000 a year.
