Hawaii islands expect high surf this weekend
HONOLULU (AP) — The National Weather Service says Hawaii residents can expect higher-than-normal surf this weekend.
Weather forecasters say south swells will affect most of the islands including Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island.
The high surf advisory is in effect from Thursday morning to Saturday morning.
Forecasters expect the waves to be between 6 and 10 feet. They also say strong longshore and rip currents will increase the danger for swimmers.
Beach goers are encouraged to be cautious and listen to ocean safety officials.
