Kauai debuts airport ocean safety video
LIHUE, Kauai (AP) — Kauai has seen 11 people drowned so far this year and is hoping a new ocean safety video will help prevent any more.
The four-minute video debuted this week on four monitors at the Lihue Airport. The video is being played on monitors in the airport’s two baggage claim areas to that it can be seen by residents and arriving visitors alike.
Ron Margolis, community service chair for Rotary Club of Kapaa, says the hope is that the message will have a lasting impact on educating people about ocean safety.
Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. says he wants people to know Kauai continues to be a beautiful place, and the community will continue efforts to make sure residents and visitors have a safe experience.
