Edward “Eddie” Lindsey Lake, 77, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 20 at his residence. Born in Lahaina, Maui, he was a prep cook. Private services to be held at a later date. Survived by brother, Peter (Linda) Lindsey of Kailua-Kona; sister, Louneille Limahai of Waimanalo, Oahu; numerous nieces and one niece. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
Carole Mae McCarty, 76, of Pendleton, Ore., and formerly of the Big Island, died Dec. 2 in Oregon. Born in Pendleton, she was a teacher/artist/weaver and illustrator of children’s books. Services held. Any charitable memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Center for the Arts or a charity of choice. Survived by husband, Harrell McCarty; son, Morgwn (Annetta) McCarty of Redwood City, Calif.; sister, Kay Nation of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.
Dean Wesley Ponggan, 66, of Hilo died Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala and retired as a truck driver for HPM. Memorial services to be held at Berean Bible Church, 420 Lama St., on Saturday. Visitation at 9 a.m.; Service at 11 a.m. Survived by wife, Mary Ponggan of Hilo; sons, Mel J. Lehano of Hilo, Malcolm Lehano of Hilo, Charles “BooBoo” Fenenbock of Hilo; daughter, Melanie Lehano of Hilo; sisters, Collen Weza of Oregon, Deanna Kanuha of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home, Hilo.
Myong “Joanne” Cha Weirich, 63, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 19 at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Inchon, Korea, she was a cook at Club Korea. Private services held. No known relatives. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
