Hawayo Mikami, 94, of Hilo died Dec. 14 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Onomea, she was retired from Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company and a member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission and Kaumana 1 1/2 Mile Kumiai. Friends may call from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; Service at 5:30 p.m. Cremation to follow at Homelani Crematory. Casual attire. Survived by sons, George “Bugs” (Janice “Jan”) Mikami, Norman Mikami, both of Hilo; daughters, Margaret Peeler of Hilo, Elizabeth (Clarence) Root of Decatur, Ala.; sister, Miyuki Nakamoto of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Nobuko Teragawa of Honolulu, Matsuko Teragawa of Papaikou, Hisayo Tokoro of Honolulu; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
