Melvin Naoya Kaneshiro, 71, of Hilo died Dec. 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kukuihaele, he was a self-employed certified public accountant and member of Hui Okinawa, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hawaii Association of Public Accountants and East Hawaii Kiwanis Club. Alberta Chartier Mueller Gillette Liljestrand, 102, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 4 at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Algonac, Mich., she was an artist, teacher, community volunteer and world traveler. Services held.
