Valerie “Aunty Val” Gene Kailimai, 55, of Hilo died at the Hilo Medical Center on Wednesday, June 27. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and private child care provider. David Rush Miller, 70, of Pepeekeo died Wednesday, June 27, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a professor of English at the University of Hawaii at Hilo for 44 years and the chairman of the Humanities Division for eight years.
