Sumie Matsumoto Kidani, 89, of Paauilo and North Kohala, died May 1 at home. Born in Paauhau Mauka, she was a homemaker and member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Honokaa Congregation. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Dodo Mortuary chapel; memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers. Survived by daughters, Susan Uribe of Papaaloa and Carol (David) Fuertes of North Kohala; sons, Laurence Kidani of Paauilo and Myron (Julie) Kidani of Kalopa; daughter-in-law, Joy Kidani of Pepeekeo; brothers, Hiroshi (Helen) Matsumoto and George (Elaine) Matsumoto, both of Honolulu, and Donald (Carol) Matsumoto of Maui; sisters, Jane Osako of Honokaa, Sadako Koga and Yoshie (Alex) Okada, both of Waimea, Hideko (Dr. James) Miyashiro, Alice (Henry) Nakahodo and Arline Matsumoto, all of Honolulu; brother-in-law, Yoshito (Florence) Kidani of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Tomie Matsumoto of Honokaa, Matsuko Teragawa of Papaikou, Yoshiko Kidani of Paauilo and Janice (Wilson) Koga of Honolulu; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Robert “Bob” James Kerr, 85, of Kailua Kona, died May 3 at a private care home. Born in Elmhurst, Ill., he was a retired sales manager for American Optical in California. Memorial service 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Community Church. Private scattering of ashes at a later date. Survived by wife, Barbara Kerr of Kailua Kona; sons, Steve ( Laurie) Kerr of Bend, Ore., Jeff Kerr of Honolulu and Ron (Helen) Kerr of Kailua-Kona; sister, Grace Lauer of California; three grandchildren. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.
