Gabriel Galvizo “Abe” Jose, 58, of Pepeekeo died Nov. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in the Philippines, he was a taxi company owner and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Nobuye “Mae” Watanabe, 96, of Hilo died Oct. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paauhau Mauka, she was a retired custodian for the former Hawaiian Telephone Co., member of Taishoji Soto Mission and its Kenjin Kai, Kyodan, Fujin Kai and Niigata Kenjin Kai, and attended Hilo Hooganji Mission. Visitation 10–11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by son, Albert Watanabe of Hilo; daughter, Margaret “Marge” (Melvin) Masaki of Hilo; brother, Takao (Fumiko) Sugai of Honolulu; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
