Bernard “Popi” Kenji Adachi, 76, of Mountain View died Oct. 14 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired City and County of Honolulu firefighter and U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Celebration of life and potluck 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at Carlsmith Beach Park Pavilion in Keaukaha. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Dorothy Adachi of Mountain View; son, Arthur (Gina) Adachi of Mountain View; daughters, Alyshia (Vic) Garcia of Waianae, Oahu, and Aly Adachi of Mountain View; brother, James (Florence) Adachi of Kaneohe, Oahu; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Peter Takeshi Oshima, 93, of Hilo died Nov. 4 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired nurseryman for Eunice Nursery and the former Flowers Inc., and member of the Church of the Holy Cross. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Yuki Oshima of Hilo; daughter, Jeri (Claude) Oshima-Fiset of California; sister-in-law, Chikako Oshima of Seattle; brother-in-law, Nelson Doi of Waimea; one granddaughter; nephews and nieces. Harriett Tamanaha, 68, of Hilo died Nov. 14 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired circuit court clerk superviser. Visitation 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home. Service at 5:30 p.m. Survived by husband, Tsutomu Tamanaha of Hilo; sons, Justin (Joycelyn) Nakashima, Darryn (Iris) Tamanaha and Dayne (Blanche) Tamanaha of Hilo; Sy Nakashima of California and Kevin (Nancy) Tamanaha of Nebraska; daughter, Adele (Craig) Shiigi of Hilo; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister-in-law; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Richard H. Shikuma, 95, of Hilo died Nov. 14 at Pohai Malama Hospice. Born in Honohina, he was a retired county police captain, former Security Title Corp. manager, U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Services held. No koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Dr. Craig (Linda) Shikuma of Hilo; daughter, Rae (Brendan) Loui of Honolulu; brother, Atoru Shikuma of Hilo; sister, Helen (Noboru) Yanagihara of Hilo; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
