Irene Judith Birchland, 72, of Pepeekeo died Sunday, Nov. 4, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker. Visitation from 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Funeral service at 6 p.m.; cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Roberta Irwin of Louisiana, Renee Hon of Virginia and Jeri Birchland of West Virginia; sons, Richard Irwin of Massachusetts, Edward Birchland of Pennsylvania, Keith Birchland Sr. of Hilo and Neil Birchland of California; mother, Edith Irene Santiago; brothers, Julio Ruiz Jr. of Honolulu, Oahu, Thomas Moran of San Jose, Calif., William Moran of Sacramento, Calif., and Anthony Santiago of San Jose, Calif.; sisters, Carol Gusman of Sunny Vale, Calif., and Sharon Bass of Metica, Calif.; adopted brother, John Futch of San Jose, Calif.; 35 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Masayuki Oda, 62, of Kealakekua died Nov. 15. Born in Tokyo, Japan, he was a sculptor who moved to Hawaii in 2009. Survived by spouse, Kimiko Gomyo; brother, Masando (Nobue) Oda of Kanagawa, Japan; sisters, Hiromi (Larry) Grobel of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mayumi Oda of Kealakekua, Hawaii. Michelle “Belles” Lee Pedro, 43, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 13 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a caregiver and member of Hope Chapel Kailua.
