Shirley Catherine Slaughter Helms, 89, of Waimea, formerly of Hilo, died Oct. 25 at home. Born in Denver, she was a homemaker. Plans pending for celebration of life in late December. Survived by daughters, Patricia (Michael) Kimball of Puako and Carol (William II) Case of Waimea; son, Michael Helms of Fern Forest; brother, Charles Slaughter of Arizona; sister, Jane Slaughter of New Mexico; sister-in-law, Marjorie Watkins of Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; nephews and nieces. Arthur “Seibo” Seiya Saiki, 76, of Holualoa died Nov. 2 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired meat cutter for Matsuyama Food Mart and former carpenter. Services held. Memorial donations to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740. Survived by wife, Betty Saiki of Holualoa; daughters, Sonja Kahawaii of Honolulu and Peggy (Leland) Nakagawa of Holualoa; sons, Chuzo (Lori) Kahawaii of Plano, Texas, Haruo (Ramona) Kahawaii of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Osamu (Yanin Taveres) Kahawaii of Holualoa; sisters, Betty Maglasang, Miriam Fuchigami and Hiro (Albert) Hamada; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
