Pearl Ann Read, 95, of Keauhou died Nov. 1. Born in Minneapolis, she was a bookkeeper and member of the Unity Church. Private services. Survived by son Michael (Ginger) Waldman; one hanai granddaughter; one nephew; cousins. Arrangements by A Hui Hou Crematory & Funeral Home of West Hawaii.
Walter Allan Sturm, 82, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 4 at home. Born in New York City, he was an engineer and computer designer for the federal government, a teacher at UCLA, member of the Kona Bridge Club, former bridge champion, sharpshooter, NRA member and U.S. Navy veteran. Services held. Survived by his wife, Mary Sturm of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Nancy (David Campbell) Sturm of Los Angeles and Diana (Sam) Hunt of San Francisco; stepsons, Garey Rivera of Kona Palisades and Richard Rivera of Kailua-Kona; stepdaughter, Geraldine (Lorrin) Aiwohi of Kauai; brother, Roger Sturm of the mainland; several grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
