Masaru Araki, 90, of Hilo died Oct. 6 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Kapoho, he was a retired welder for Kuwaye Brothers and Allied Aggregates and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Alvin Araki and Dick (Maureen) Araki of Hilo, Edward Araki of Wailuku, Maui; daughter, Claudia (Mark) Uyeda of Hilo; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Abel Lancy Kanealoha Kauwe, 48, of Pahoa died Oct. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. Burial service noon Saturday, Oct. 27 at Alae Cemetery. Edward Murty Jr., 66, of Waimea died Oct. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was manager and landscape contractor for Pacific Island Trees and a Honolulu firefighter. Lolita Padilla Quevedo, 66, of Hilo died Oct. 18 at home. Born in Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a retired Hilo Medical Center dietitian, owner of Quevedo Foster Family Care Home and member of St. Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic churches. Anita S. Norris, 71, of Hilo died Oct. 11 at home. Her obituary in Saturday’s edition had an incorrect date.
