Josephine “Masing” “Jodie” Kuuleialoha Amaral, 79, of Halaula died Sept. 23 at home. Born in Waipio Valley, she was a retired seamstress for Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows. Visitation 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Sacred Heart Church in Hawi. Service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow. Survived by daughters, Sharrie (Melvin) Oskins of Kailua-Kona, Shirley Ann Arraujo of Hawi, Dearie (Michael) Nordlof of Kainaliu and Leah (Kenneth) Demaya of Waimea; sons, Ray (Adele) Arraujo of Virginia, Louis (Heidi Calhoun) Arraujo Sr. of Puakea Bay and Abel (Yvonne) Amaral of Hawaiian Beaches; brother, John (Elaine) Ventura of Kawaihae; sisters, Antonia Balicanta of Pearl City, Oahu, Priscilla (Chester) Hetrick of Las Vegas, Carmen (Paul) Green of Lahaina, Maui, and Margaret Lepolo of Pearl City; hanai brothers, Jacob Batalona of Honokaa, Rizal (Kumiko) Fronda of Kailua-Kona, Ernest (Suzanne) Fronda of Holualoa, Martin (Julia) Fronda of California and Kia Fronda of Waipio Valley; hanai sisters, Gloria (Terry) Muraki of Kailua-Kona, Emily (Elroy Choy Foo) Fronda Choy Foo of Waianae, Oahu, Maile Baird of Kauai, Marie (Samuel Simeona) Kellner of Florida and Eileen Juraldo of Las Vegas; 26 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. John “Jay” D. Lopez Sr., 66, of Keaau died Sept. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Kauai, he was a construction worker. Memorial services 9 a.m. Friday at Living Waters Assembly of God church. Flowers and leis welcome. Survived by spouse, Priscilla Lopez of Keaau; son, John D. (Tessie) Lopez Jr. of Keaau; daughters, Davelyn (Reynold) Lopez of Waimea and Leona (Randy) Lopez of Hilo; stepdaughter Liana (Darren) Vegas of Kauai; brother, Michael (Kumpun) Lopez of Kauai; sister, Christine (Richard) Callejo of Kauai; 13 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jose “Joe” Parker, 48, of Keaau died Sept. 17 at home. Born in Key West, Fla., he was a contractor and member of Open Arms Metropolitan Community Church.
