James Michael Haines, 73, of Pahoa died Friday, Aug. 23. Born in California. Private services held. Survived by mother, Erva Farnsworth of Pahoa; sister, Bridget Milligan of Alaska; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Albert Nailima Malakaua, 88, of Keaukaha died Aug. 18 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired tour bus driver for Gray Line, Jack’s Tours and Laupahoehoe Transportation Company, a U.S. Army veteran, elder of the Waiakea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and an avid lauhala weaver. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; memorial service at 11 a.m. Survived by wife, Wilimina Malakaua of Hilo; daughter, Ruth “Lulu” Miyasato of Hilo; sister, Keolaho Davidson of Kahului, Maui; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
Jewell Morehouse, 90, of Hilo died Tuesday, Sept. 3. Born in Santa Ana, Calif., she retired as a clerk at grade school. Survived by sons, Craig (Judy) Morehouse of California, Randall (Beth) Morehouse of Hilo; daughter, Kathy (Norman) Huefner of California; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home, Hilo.
