run/walk Sept. 21
Waiakea High will hold it Warrior 3-mile run/walk at 8 a.m. Sept. 21 at the high school.
The race is in honor of the late Wayne “Big Dog” Joseph, a former teacher and coach at the school.
The cost is $8 for students in grades 9-12 and $20 for adults. The event is a fundraiser for Waiakea’s cross country program to help defray costs to the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament.

HGEA tennis fun
day set for Sunday
The Hawaii Government Employees Association will hold a tennis fun day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.
HGEA members and their guests are invited to participate in social tennis doubles.
Tennis balls and refreshments will be provided.

The Pahoa High athletic department is accepting applications for coaches for girls basketball, boys paddling and girls paddling.

Two HI-PAL events
are on tap Saturday
The Hawaii Police Department is hosting two HI-PAL “Click It Or Ticket” events on Saturday.
A volleyball tournament for ages 10 and under will be held at the Kawananakoa Hall gymnasium in Keaukaha beginning at 10:30 a.m.
And a basketball clinic for youths in grades 5-8 will be held at the Kamehameha-Hawaii campus’ middle school gymnasium beginning at 9 a.m. Participants will play 5-on-5 games after the clinic.

First Tee Program
at Makalei C.C.
The First Tee Program will start at 3 p.m. Sept. 22 at Makalei Hawaii Country Club.
Registration begins at 2:15 p.m for ages 7- to 17. Meet in the parking lot of MHCC.
There is a $25 registration fee per participant for new members, and all future sessions will be at 3 p.m. Sundays at the driving range. For more information, email email@example.com.

Hilo Little League will be conducting its annual meeting of members and election from 10:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 14 at the Panaewa Community Center’s conference room.

The Hawaii Government Employees Association will hold a golf fellowship Sept. 28 at Volcano Country Club.
There are eight tee times available starting at 8 a.m., and members may for their own groups.
