BIIF basketball playoffs set to open
The Big Island Interscholastic Federation boys Division I basketball playoffs open tonight with East No. 4 seed Keaau (6-6) at East No. 2 Waiakea (9-3) and East No. 3 Kamehameha (8-4) visiting West No. 2 Kealakehe (3-7).
West top seed Konawaena (10-0) and East top seed Hilo (10-2) have first-round byes.
In the D-II playoffs tonight, it’s East No. 3 St. Joseph (0-12) at West No. 2 Kohala (6-4) and West No. 3 Honokaa (5-5) at East No. 2 Ka’u (2-10).
West top seed Hawaii Prep (6-4) and East top seed Pahoa (7-5) have first-round byes. All games begin at 7 p.m., except the Kamehameha-Kealakehe contest.
The BIIF’s D-I and II semifinals and finals will be played Friday and Saturday at Hilo Civic.
Note: KHLO radio (850 AM) will broadcast tonight’s Keaau at Waiakea game.
