Haili Volleyball tournaments
Teams are being sought for the Haili Girls Volleyball Tournament which will be held Feb. 18-23 at the Hilo Armory.
The tournament will include men’s and women’s open, novice and junior divisions. Deadline to enter is Feb. 4.
The 56th Annual Haili Invitational Volleyball Tournament will be held March 25-30 at several different sites in the Hilo area. The deadline to enter the tournament is Feb. 10.
The Haili Invitational will include men’s and women’s B, A, AA, masters, and junior divisions.

The Hawaii Football club is holding spring registration for its three divisions: champions (grades 3-4, two-hand touch); junior varsity (grades 5-6) and varsity (grades 7-8).
The no-weight limit tackle league has extended early registration until Jan. 18. Fee is $100. Late registration fee is $150.
Equipment rental is $50, with $100 refundable deposit. Used equipment is available for purchase. There is a limited supply.
Hoops camp slated
Hawaii Island Hoops is now accepting registration for its 2013 College-Prep Basketball Camp, scheduled June 3-7 at Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona.
According to camp director Andy Smith, the camp will feature a guest NBA player and an ESPN Top 10 Nationally ranked high school coach instructing all week.
“Get noticed and be instructed by college coaches,” Smith said. “Our college-prep camp includes Nike SPARQ Training, daily fundamental training workouts, shooting clinics, defensive breakdowns, team offense, individual skills competitions, team tournament and championship game.”
He added that there will also be a 3-point shootout, free-throw, slam dunk contest, all-star game and awards ceremony.
The Hawaii Island Hoops College-Prep Basketball Camp is open to boys ages 13-19 that are looking to improve their skills and learn a college style program, Smith said.
The cost of the five-day camp is $350 and includes top-notch college coach/player instruction from the NCAA, NAIA and JUCO levels, evening college-prep seminars on academic requirements, financial aid available, and athletic recruitment.
Smith said each camper will also receive a Nike Reversible Jersey and Nike shorts, daily agility training, College-Prep handbook, all meals included, athletic trainer on site and a Hapuna Beach trip.

Konawaena High School will host the inaugural Martin Luther King Day, Junior Varsity Baseball Tournament on Monday, Jan. 21. All games will be played at Gabby Inaba Field on the Konawaena High School campus.
According to Konawaena athletic director Bill Trumbo, the tournament will honor the memory of Dr. King and his stance on racial equality and his encouragement of non-violent behavior in the face of adversity and injustice.
A full schedule of games will take place with junior varsity teams from Konawaena, Kealakehe, Hilo and either Waiakea or Kamehameha participating.
A concession featuring soul food will be set up during the tournament.
Viking Golf event
The 28th annual Viking Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Jan. 26 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
The early bird registration deadline has been extended to Jan. 19 for the two-person team at $70 per player.

Coaches Ryan Yoshioka and Amos Ayap from the Piopio Bears Volleyball Association will host a non-sanctioned Juniors Volleyball Tournament, Feb. 1-2 at Hilo Armory.
Deadline to enter is Jan. 21. It will also be listed on the Moku O Keawe website.
