There’s no doubt Hilo’s Curtis Chong knows how to celebrate a birthday with his friends. On his 60th birthday Sunday, Chong aced the par 3, 177-yard 10th hole at Hilo Municipal Golf Course while playing with the C-Flite Golf Club.
Chong used a 3 wood to drain his first-ever hole-in-one and since he accomplished the feat on the 10th hole, the entire C-Flite Golf Club got to watch him sink the ace.
“It’s a nice way to celebrate my 60th birthday,” Chong said. “I’m not sure if I should jump on a plane and head to Las Vegas, or go home and have dinner with my mom. I think I’ll go home to have dinner with my mom, she’ll enjoy that and we can celebrate my birthday together at home.”
Witnessing Chong’s golf milestone Sunday were Ed Higa, Tom Kawamoto, Brian Ikawa, Derek Igawa, Cary Honda, Henry Nakamoto, Harold Mizuno, Bruce Lim, Wayne Kodani, Arnold Tengan, Clyde Oshiro, Bert Wagatsuma, Myles Watanabe and Jerel Yamamoto.
