Lady Vulcans are in eighth place
University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Jade Salvador fired a 78 and was tied for 12th place after the first round of the Grand Canyon Women’s Invitational on Monday.
The 18-team women’s collegiate golf tournament is being played at the Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
UHH’s Kristen Sawada carded an 80 and was tied for 22nd heading into today’s final round.
Also competing for the Vulcans are Shannon Abarra (83, T-39th), Erika Morihiro (85, T-57th) and Kacie Harada(89, T-73rd).
St. Edward’s shot a 17-over-par 305 to grab the first-round lead. In second place was Grand Canyon (310) while Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State were tied for third at 312. The Vulcans carded a 326 and were in 8th place going into today’s round.
The golf tournament scores were reported by the UHH sports information office.
