Kamilah Martin scored 21 points, Vicky Tagalicod 18 and Shawna-Lei Kuehu 10 to lead the University of Hawaii to a 67-57 win over UC-Riverside on Thursday night.
The Big West Conference women’s basketball game was played at Stan Sheriff Center.
Martin also had a game-high 13 rebounds as the Rainbow Wahine improved to 16-12 overall and 12-5 in the Big West. Riverside fell to 11-17 and 4-13, respectively.
Martin made 7 of 17 field goals and 7 of 10 free throws for her team-high 21 points.
Tagalicod, a former Hilo High School standout, tied her career high at UH with 18 points. She hit 8 of 11 field goals and 2 of 4 3-pointers in 18 minutes of action.
The Rainbow Wahine held a 39-30 rebounding advantage and sank 17 of 24 free throws compared to UC-Riverside’s 8 of 16.
The Rainbow Wahine led 37-28 at the intermission, then outscored the visitors 30-39 in the second half.
Hawaii finishes its conference season Saturday night by hosting Cal State Fullerton (9-19, 5-11) at Stan Sheriff Center. It’s Senior Night before the Rainbow Wahine go onto to play in the Big West Conference tournament.
