Online Extra: Rainbow Wahine win on the road
Shawna-Lei Kuehu scored 18 points with 10 rebounds to lead the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team past Long Beach State 61-54 in Long Beach, Calif.
Monica DeAngelis scored 13 points and Destiny King added 12 for the the Rainbow Wahine (11-10, 7-3 Big West Conference).
Neither team shot well, but Hawaii dominated the boards, holding a 49-28 rebounding advantage. Kamilah Martin grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with seven points for Hawaii, which shot 36.5 percent.
Ella Clark led the 49ers (11-11, 4-6 Big West) with 17 points. Long Beach shot just 32.7 percent, including only 3 of 19 from beyond the arc.
