Sawada, Morihiro spark Vuls
University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Kristen Sawada and Erika Morihiro earned first-team all-conference honors as they led the Vulcans to a fourth place finish Tuesday at the Pacific West Conference Women’s Golf Championships in El Cerrito, Calif.
The tournament was held at the Mira Vista Golf & Country Club.
Sawada and Morihiro tied for sixth place overall with identical 19-over-par 163 totals, shooting 78 in the first round and an 85 on Tuesday.
Vulcan Nyssa Aoki (85-86) earned third team honors and tied for 18th place at 171. Tied for 23rd place was teammate Kacie Harada (87-89) at 175 while Jade Salvador (91-87) was 27th overall at 178.
Grand Canyon claimed the team title with a 647 total, followed by Academy of Art (650), Dixie State (659) and UH-Hilo (671).
Dixie State’s Haley Dunn (74-77) captured the individual championship with a 7-over-par 151 total.
