Yeshua boxing show on tap
The Yeshua Boxing Club, Yeshua Outreach Center, Keaau will again be hosting a USA Boxing/LBC-sanctioned boxing event on Saturday, starting at 6 p.m.
Boxers from the Big Island as well as other clubs from across the state will be competing.
The event will be held at the Sure Foundation Church gym located on the corner of Pohaku Circle and Pahoa Highway, in Keaau (halfway between Kaloli and Paradise Avenues).
Yeshua-hosted boxing events typically attract 600-800 in attendance, in a safe, family environment. The Yeshua Boxing Club, with over 60 current members, is dedicated to building character, teaching respect and developing champions in a drug-free environment.
The general public is invited to the event; tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for ages 11-17, with children under 10 free.
Families are welcome and food concessions will be provided. All proceeds go directly to the Yeshua Outreach Center, serving over 200 Puna community youth per week.

Junior golf meeting
The 2013 Big Island Junior Golf Association’s general membership meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the KTA Puainako second floor meeting room.
Current and new members are asked to attend. BIJGA golf shirt order form and membership applications will be available at the meeting.

First Tee golf
Kona Country Club will host the First Tee of Hawaii program on Jan. 13. It is the first session for the Hawaii program held at KCC.
The session starts at 2 p.m. at the KCC driving range. There is a $25 registration fee per participant.
Registration starts at 1 p.m. and parents must sign up their children before the the program begins.
All future sessions will be on Sundays at 2 p.m. at the driving range. Email email@example.com for more information.
The public is invited to participate in the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce’s Whitey Rose Memorial President’s Cup Golf Tournament, slated Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Big Island Country Club, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The tournament format will be a two-person scramble and feature Greenie and Hole-in-One contests.
A spokesperson said the tournament benefits Chamber programs and operations and provides a great opportunity for members and Chamber supporters to join in a fun event and win prizes donated by local Chamber businesses, golf courses and resorts.
The registration fee is $150 per player. The entry deadline is today, Feb. 8.
