Vuls to host PLN
The University of Hawaii at Hilo will play a pair of afternoon Pacific West Conference basketball games this weekend.
On Saturday, the Vulcans host Point Loma Nazarene of San Diego, Calif. beginning with the women’s game at noon and the men at 2:30 p.m.
On Monday, Hawaii Pacific University is the opponent. Women begin play at 2 p.m. and the men follow at 4:30 p.m.
Both series will be played at the UHH Gym.

Girls softball note
Sign-ups for girls interested in playing softball for the Nobu Yamauchi RBI League, ages 18 and under, will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Sunday at Honokaa Park; 10 to 11 a.m. at Waimea Park; 12 to 1 p.m. at the Kona Community Aquatic Center parking lot; and 3 to 4 p.m. at Kamehameha Park in Kohala.

The Wailoa Razorbacks Pop Warner Football Association will have registration packet pick-up from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mo’oheau Park in Hilo. This is for the 2013 Flag Football season.
The association is currently accepting cheerleaders and flag football players ages 5-7 (Cubs), 8-10 (Bobcats), 11-13 (Wildcats) and 14-16 (Panthers). A physical exam dated after June 2012 is required prior to practice.
All participants need a copy of their birth certificate, front and back copy of their medical insurance card, copy of their second quarter report card, and a current wallet sized photo.
