Notes: The Vulcans can exceed their win total from last season and cap a perfect season-opening homestand against a Tigers squad that opened its season by going 0-4 at the Hawaiian Invitational on Oahu. … The team from Hays, Kan., won just two sets as it took on UHH’s three Pacific West Conference rivals from Oahu as well as fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Fort Lewis … Vulcans coach Tino Reyes probably couldn’t have envisioned freshman Kyndra Trevino-Scott getting her career off to a better start. The 5-foot-11 middle blocker has made an impact in each match, hitting .551 (49 of 89). … With freshman outside hitter Marley Strand-Nicolaisen, 6-0, trying to regain her hot hand, junior outside hitter Callie Eberle, 5-10, led the Vuls with 15 kills Saturday in a four-set win against East Central University (Okla.) … The Tigers have been outhit at a .280-.120 clip so far. Senior Jenna Ulrich, 6-1, leads the way with 33 kills, while junior Taylor Mares and senior Madison Schwartz, 5-11, each have 28. … UHH plays its annual alumnae match at 7 p.m. Saturday before hitting the road for its PacWest opener Sept. 20 at Hawaii Pacific.
